Breast cancer research is a cause very close to the heart for Irene. Her mother had breast cancer last year. It was caught early and she was very lucky.  Her birth mother died at the age of 36.  Irene herself  has the BRCA 2 mutation which means that she has an 84% chance of having breast cancer by the time she reaches the age of 70.

She donated this lovely hand-knit lavender hat, made from an Uber-soft cashmere blend.
