About
Here’s
Jon and I, July 2, 2005- of course I’m going to post one of the best photos ever taken of me
I love to post my wedding photos because they came out so incredibly great. We both teared up when we saw them for the first time. Here is where I give props to my fantastic photog (and fellow nurse) Signy at Shine Photography in Vancouver. She worked magic!
Jon and I ‘met’ over the internet on a dating site in 1999. I don’t feel odd telling people this anymore because it seems like nearly everyone we know has met someone this way. We were long distance for nearly 5 years because Jon lived in England and I was here in Canada. I was lucky enough to find someone who was just right for me who was also willing to pick up and leave everything he knew to relocate here!
I have a grown daughter and a teenage son from my first (practice) marriage. I try to sneak in a photo of them on the blog here and there and I complain about them sometimes too. If anyone told me how hard the teenage years were going to be….well, I wouldn’t have listened. Trust me– it can be rough!
We have 2 little dogs, Buster and Molly, who I might introduce if they are being cute and not too annoying that day.
I have been working at home as a telephone advice nurse for the past couple of years. I was very lucky to be chosen for a special project with my employer along with several other nurses, and since the project was successful I am now working from home permanently. It has changed my life and I feel very lucky to be doing what I am good at and enjoy with NO daily commute! Prior to working for Healthlink BC, I spent about 15 years as a pediatric nurse in hospitals- most recently 10 years in Childrens’ Hospital emergency deparment. Unfortunately, I’m still working partly nights but such is the life of a nurse.
My creative passion is for making soap and other bath & body products from scratch. I’m having a great time with it and turning it into a little business by selling at local craft fairs and online from my shops at Zibbet and Etsy. I blog a lot about my soap- I’m sure you’ve noticed that!
I’d love to hear from you. Please leave comments– I love comments! To contact me directly, use the Contact Me link in the top left corner of the main page.
Welcome to my little blog world and thanks for visiting:-)
Cheers
Helen

I'm Helen. I'm a mom of two, wife to my sweetie and I work from home as a telephone advice nurse. 'Triage' is from a french word meaning 'to sort'.
In nursing, it means to determine the level of urgency of care needed- so I'm a sorter of sorts:-)
In my free time, I like to bake and do home projects, like painting (walls, not pictures) My current passion is making handmade soaps and other bath and body goodies.
